Day 71, Week 11

Today I went exploring some more!

I slept in late and had breakfast and then hung out in my room for a while. I made a little perch for myself by turning my comfy chair and the tv so I could relax because I randomly found the NFL channel and was watching the Packers game and a mixture of all the other games that were on. But when the game was almost over, the channel randomly decided to air "The Fox and the Hound" dubbed in Spanish! I don't know what happened there, but I stopped watching. After lunch, Allison and I met up with Tara to go to a different market today called "San Juan de Dios." It was a huge market of everything inside this storage-like building. I bought an embroidered very Mexican shirt there! :) As we were walking in the center to catch a bus back, this young guy came up to us and needed us to translate a letter to English for him. He needed to do it for class to compare English on the street to English learned in the classroom. We did it, but it took a while! He wanted to meet up later sometime at a bar/cafe maybe when he was DJ'ing to thank us-so we'll see how that goes. We made it back to our house and had a little dinner and just hung out. No Halloween celebrating for us, but tomorrow I think some of us are going to get together because our crew doesn't have class and we don't have school either!

I can't believe it's already week 11!

Day 70, Week 10

I had a very lazy day today! I woke up kind of early, took a shower, had breakfast and then went back to sleep-haha. There was nothing to do all day so I just listened to music and was on the internet all day. After dinner, Allison and I met up with Jenny and we went to David's restaurant for a drink. We came close to closing time so he brought us to another place and we hung out for a little while and he brought us home. It was really weird to not have any homework or anything to do all day! We don't have school until Wednesday, so we're going to try and plan to do something with David on Monday since he doesn't have class either. :)

Day 69, Week 10

Yesterday was a really fun day for me. :) (as planned)
I took my first grammar exam and that went pretty well, I think I did just fine. During our break time in between, my culture class all presented a little speech about different parts of the altar that we made in front of the rest of the students. We also had the sweet bread (Pan de Muerto) and hot chocolate that was wonderful! I went to take my culture final which was half fill in the blank and half short-answer questions. I knew about everything except one fill in the blank answer so I think I'll do alright on that too. I want to know how I did on my essay too!

After we were all done with our exams, Allison, Tara, and I took a bus down to the center to find the market for the Day of the Dead things. We made it there but it was so much smaller than what we expected! I actually didn't buy anything which I was kind of upset about. I wanted to get a couple cool figurines. We walked back through one of the streets of shops and had lunch at a nice place. I tried my first Torta Ahogada, which is pretty much one of the more famous foods here in Guadalajara. It is like a pulled pork sandwich on this special baguette called "birote" and then it is drowned "ahogada" in a tomato salsa. It was actually really good, I'd probably have another! We found a bus to get back on and finally made it back closer to our house afteer about an hour because the traffic was so bad in the center. I took a little nap which was longer than I expected because we all had plans to go over to Annina's house.

Annina's last day around Guadalajara was yesterday and then her and her brother are going to be traveling all over the country. We went over to her house to hang out with her for a while before saying our goodbyes. It was really sad to say goodbye to her and I can hardly imagine what it'll be like when the rest of us have to do the same thing! David picked us all up and we drove an hour in traffic to find his favorite bar close to his university, only to be turned down because it was too full. ugh! So we drove a little ways more to an outside bar that had a beach theme and there was sand all over. To my surprise, there was a big basset hound walking around too! It was the coolest thing-haha. Jenny, Allison, David, and I all hung out there for a long time and then our friend Diego joined us. We had a really good time there and the waiter was thoroughly enjoying us "gringas." After that, we went to David's friend's bar/lounge and hung out there for a while and talked. We were getting a little tired, so David drove us all home and I was fast asleep!

Week 10 is almost done! ~OMG~

Day 68, Week 10

I had a pretty good day today! We did a little reviewing in my first class for our final tomorrow and in my second class we covered the topic of music. We listened to all sorts of mexican music blasting through the speakers as our energetic professor danced and sang in front of us. :) It was a good class period. It was also relieving to hand in my essay! We went over what the final will be about and also each of us picked a short question to answer for our altar for the day of the dead we created. We will be giving a little presentation about it to the rest of the study body during our class breaks along with the bread that is traditional and hot chocolate! After class I went home and ate and then took a nice long nap! Allison and I went back to Starbucks to study for a couple hours and then found our way back home. :) It's such a fun and relaxing atmosphere there (besides the abundance of smokers!) Dinner was ready for us when we got home-Mexican! We had chicken/beef tacos with refried beans and cheesecake for dessert! mmmmm :D It was delicious! I studied for a little while longer, talked to Brian, and now I'm ready for bed! Don't want to take my finals tomorrow! But I have some fun plans for after school (you'll hear about them later)! End of session #2 ~wowza!~

Day 67, Week 10

What a successful day!
Today's classes were pretty boring except I got to watch some excerpts from a couple old black and white Mexican films. After class I came home and had a nice lunch with homemade pasta, fabulous tomatoes, bread-crumb-fried fish, and rice! I still had a small headache so I thought I would take a couple days off of laying in the sun to see if that helps! I took almost a 2 hour nap after lunch and felt soo good after. Allison and I walked to the Starbucks by La Minerva fountain and met up with Tara and Jenny to do some homework. I had to finish up my essay for my culture class because it's due tomorrow. I got it done and I even got to have Diego proofread it for me, with few errors! :) We took a bus most of the way home and then had dinner. This week, like most of the others is flying by! I can't wait for my mom to come (less than a month away!). I probably should study tomorrow because we have our finals on Friday, but I'm not too worried about them. I think they'll be alright. Well off to relax a little before bed!

Day 66, Week 10

Yesterday was a pretty good day! My first class was a little rough to get through because I had such a bad headache, but in my second class we talked about Mexican art, so that was interesting! After class I came home and hung out, had lunch, and then I did my homework outside and got some sun. :) I can only handle it for at most a couple hours because it has been around the 80s lately! I worked on my essay all afternoon and then actually finished it except my conclusion, so I typed it all up! Typing in proper Spanish takes for EVER because of all the accents, but I'm glad I got it done. I'm going to have a friend of mine proofread it for me because it is due already on Thursday. Later on, some of us went out with David to a bar called Wing's Army (kiiind of like Buffalo Wild Wings) and they have them all over the town. It was fun and mi Diego and Edi also showed up for a while too. It was good to see them after I had been done all weekend! After there, we went to a new cantina that was supposed to have karaoke, but it was more like a live band playing whichever covers you'd like to hear. I really didn't want to come because I didn't want to be out late, so I left with Allison not too long after. We walked home and I talked to Brian for a little bit and hit the hay!

Day 65, Week 10

OOPS! I forgot to post my blog last night!

Yesterday was a pretty fun day I suppose I could say. I had class and it wasn't too bad either! This is my last week of these classes and then I switch for the last time next week. I don't think we start until Wednesday though because Monday will be orientation and then Tuesday is the Day of the Dead and we have it off! After class I came home and chatted on the internet until lunch and then I went outside to soak up some sun. It's been so nice here in the afternoon (around 80's)! I feel asleep outside and when I came back in, Allison invited me to go out for a little while so we went to the Cuban place I've talked about before. We met Tara there too and we hung out for a couple hours and Tara walked back home with us. She had dinner over at our house but she was really nervous about it-haha. Our mom of course invited her to eat right away! She stayed over for a while longer and left to walk back home. Her house is about a half hour walk away from us, but it's not that far away if you would drive. I worked on my essay a lot last night and I'm closer to being done!

I'm really missing Puerto Morelos and Abraham already! :( I can't wait to go back for Spring Break! I'm going with Molly, Lisa, and Shauna! :)

Day 64, Week 10

...I woke up around 8:30 this morning to start out my journey back to Guadalajara. It was a little more difficult to get going this morning so early, but we did it! We drove back into town to see if we could have some pozole for breakfast. Pozole is a kind of soup that is different all over the country and I don't know much else about it except I wanted to try it. The best place in town didn't have it on Sundays, so we went back to the restaurant and had an amazing breakfast. They are called huevos norqueños or something like that, and are found only in the Yucatan. They had fried tortillas (tostadas) on the bottom with black refried beans, an over easy egg, a tomato salsa, peas, cheese, and were delicious! It also came with fried bananas that were amazing too. I wanted to leave for the airport around 9:30-10ish so I would have plenty of time to find my gate and everything, but we had to get gas and whatnot and were leaving Puerto around 10:15 or something like that. I was really nervous/worried about it and Abraham could see it on my face and told me "don't be worried, it's making me worried!" We made it to the airport in time and I found my gate and said goodbye to Abraham. I almost shed a tear because I didn't want to leave, but I held it together! My flight was supposed to be boarding but they were waiting for a little while, which was great for me because I was still in a panicked mood. I sat next to the sweetest lady from Guadalajara on the plane and learned all about her family and she told me about several places I should vist. (She even shared her chicken salad sandwich she made and her airplane dessert!) She was great! As soon as I landed, I was already missing Puerto Morelos! I got to Guadalajara around 2 and took a taxi back to my house.

Once I got home I unpacked everything and uploaded all my pictures. Allison invited me out for a drink before dinner so we went back to Casa Bariachi but there weren't any mariachis playing yet. So, we just hung out for an hour or so and went back home for dinner.

I worked on my essay a little tonight and talked with some friends about my trip. I have already looked at prices for spring break to go back there soon! I loved it in Puerto Morelos and will definitely be returning there soon. :)

Day 63, Week 9

Saturday, October 23

...I woke up around 12:30 Saturday afternoon and finally was able to crawl out of bed. :) I was waiting for Abraham to take a shower in the other cabin so I just stayed in mine and almost fell asleep. Turns out he was waiting for me to come over to the other cabin when I was ready to go and he fell asleep. Finally, he came over to the cabin and with him he brought the cake he made for me for my birthday. He is studying to be a chef in Cancun, so for a "test" he designed a cake and made it as my birthday cake. It was absolutely amazing! It was a red velvet cake with a layer of white chocolate mousse inside and had white chocolate and dark chocolate pieces all around the outside of it, with sliced strawberries on the top. :D I had a little bit of it and then put it in the fridge to save for later.

We drove to the town to hang out at the beach for the town, but as we were about a 1/4 of the way there he realized he forgot his swimming trunks so he had to DRIVE BACK to the cabins to get it. Just my luck, halfway on the route back into town, it started to pour! No laying on the beach for a while! He brought me to an internet place so I could print off my boarding pass for Sunday and then we went over to his aunt's house.

There was a bunch of his relatives there that I met including his father and the youngest addition to the family, a 3 month old cousin Alcario. :) He was the most adorable baby I have seen in a long time! Of course I couldn't keep my eyes off him and I really wanted to hold him. I finally got my turn to have him and it was a long time too! It was pretty funny because he was so content and giggly with me and looking into my big blue eyes that his father and Abraham's father asked me how much it would cost for me to take care of him! haha :) (I told them "free" hehe)

The friends we went snorkeling with came to the house and then we all walked to the restaurant from the beach right in front of us. I had an awesome dinner and then walked over to some of the shops across the street to get some things for the family. :) After I was done making my purchases we found Abraham's twin brother and best friend at their uncle's bar down the street so we stopped to talk to them for a while and see what we were going to do for the night. I was so extremely tired from Friday night that we just went back to the cabins and took a shower and relaxed. We were watching tv in the main cabin and I fell asleep for about and hour! His dad came upstairs where we were watching tv and gave me a little glass of wine and said "it's only for the full moon"-haha. We were going to go to a bonfire on the beach at some bar but we were both so tired we ended up just staying at the ranch. I had to be up early in the morning anyway so I didn't want to do anything too late. When we got back to our cabin, I enjoyed the rest of my cake before bed...mmmm. :) It was a great day!

Day 62, Week 9

Friday, October 22

MY 21st BIRTHDAY!!!
So here's the story of my 21st birthday... :)
Friday morning I woke up at 5 so I could catch my taxi at 6 that was "supposed" to come to my house. My mama was up waiting with me and was also getting a little worried when it was 6:15 and the taxi that was supposed to come still wasn't there. She called one of her friends' taxi and he picked me up. She told him "super fast to the airport because she is late!" So...we went fast! haha I got to the airport with plenty of time to spare. I grabbed myself a hot chocolate, found my gate, and tried to keep my eyelids open until I got on the plane. My flight took off around 8 and I slept most of the way to Cancun. I arrived in Cancun around 10:45 and was so overwhelmed by the amount of guys yelling "TAXI?" at me. I was waiting for my friend Abraham to come get me for about 10 minutes because he didn't know which terminal I was at, nor did I. I have known Abraham for about 5 years because of distance relatives that stay with his family, but this was the first time to see him in person. He looked exactly how he does in pictures so that made it easy to find him once he walked in the doors.

I wasn't sure if we were going to be speaking Spanish or English and for some reason I get nervous to speak Spanish sometimes, so it was a mixture of the two all weekend. :) We drove to Puerto Morelos where we were going to be staying and he brought me to the restaurant that his dad owns right on the beach. We sat and had some guacamole and a beer for my birthday! :) I fell in love with the beach there at first sight. He explained to me that most of the town of Pto. Morelos is his family and everyone knows him there because of his father. After our little "snack" we drove to the ranch were we stayed. To me, it was like a resort in the jungle with a couple cabins. It was so cool! When we got into our cabin, I was looking around and right above the door I saw this HUUGE TARANTULA! It scared me so much! Abraham touched it a little bit to move it and immediately it reared up its legs at him. It was pretty cool but gross to me, so he killed it outside ha. There were also geckos inside the cabin and you could hear their roosters and the monkies in the jungle too. It was definitely a cool experience.

We drove back into town and I met his partners Cesar and Armando that he works with when they do fishing and snorkeling tours. I also met a hilarious guy they call Jesse James that also works with the tourist-type attractions. Us 2, along with his friend and 3 of his friends' friends went snorkeling at the reef. It was SO AMAZING! I had never been snorkeling before so I was a little nervous of how to actually do all the breathing and everything, but the guys and Abraham too were really helpful. We drove about 10 minutes away from the restaurant (where we left from) in the boat and then snorkeled almost halfway back. Abraham is very into the ocean, fishing, and spear-fishing so he would go off and find the stingrays buried in the ocean floor and bring them up for us to feel. You can only touch the bottom of them, but it was a very soft jelly feeling--so cool! Every now and then I would come up to talk to him and get a mouthful of salt water and eventually it started making me sick! A couple times he took my hand and showed me around the reefs and a bunch of different schools of fish. It was so awesome to see the all the life in the water. I got to hold a sea cucumber and some other conch shells that he brought up for me too. At one point when he was showing me around I look the other direction and all of a sudden this huge (to me) fish was coming closer to me!! He told me it was a barracuda and that it was a small one. Oh my goodness it made me jump! We got back in the boat and went back to the restaurant to eat. I got some shrimp with butter and garlic and they were soo amazing!

I was pretty tired after snorkeling so we went back to the cabins and relaxed for a little while, got ready to go out, and we picked up his best friend and the other friends we went snorkeling with. We all went to a club called Dubai in Cancun that was so cool. At first before the club was open we hung out in another part of the club that wasn't too big and had a drink and then when it opened, we went into the huge main part of the club. I had a FANTASTIC time there for my birthday and it was a great experience. :) We went back to the cabins and I crashed!

Day 61, Week 9

Today was so fun! During my first grammar class, we talked a lot about the weird and strange kinds of tacos they eat here (tongue, brain, tail, stomach, etc.) and just had good conversation. In my culture class, we made a shrine for the "Dia de Los Muertos", Day of the Dead celebration. Day of the Dead is kinda of like Halloweeen for us, but they are more focused on the actual meaning of the holiday. Mexican people are very close to the meaning of death and cherish it in a positive way, unlike what I am used to. On November 2, they celebrate by visiting the tumbs of their loved ones and spending the entire night eating and drinking with their spirits. I'm pretty excited for this holiday because it's such a different celebration for us, I want to learn all about it! On our shrine, there is "papel picado" which is tissue paper that is cut into different Mexican symbols, skulls that are made out of sugar, candles, a cross made of salt to attract the spirits, tequila, food, and special flowers for the Day of the Dead. It was a great time putting it all together and the whole class joined in.

After school, I came home and laid out in the sun and read some more of my books and worked on my essay. It's coming along, slow but steady! I got my bag packed for Cancun tomorrow! I have a taxi coming for me at 6 a.m. so I will be up early for sure. I'm soo excited!! I'm going to take a lot of pictures, because my first teacher told me my homework for the Monday was to present the class with a little something on Cancun since nobody in the class, including her, has been there.

I went out tonight with some of my friends to a little pub for my drinks. At 12:00 all the guys and some of the girls stood up and gave me a hug and a mexican kiss on the cheek to wish me a happy birthday. It was great. :) I'm soo excited to go to Cancun tomorrow it's crazy! I will have a great weekend and let you know all about it when I get back! :)

I'M 21!!! ahhh

Day 60, Week 9

I had a pretty good day today. Class was alright, but lunch was better. :) After lunch I laid out in the sun for a little bit and read some of my books for my essay. I even got a little more wrote down on it! Allison and I went to the gym and came home for quesadilla dinner. Pretty simple dinner tonight but it was pretty good. After dinner, we got ready and went to a movie with Jenny and Tara. We wanted to see "Eat, Pray, Love: but it was sold out so we went to "El Infierno" which is all about the drug trafficking in Mexico. It was 2 1/2 hours long and very graphic! Needless to say, I didn't understand most of it, and I took a couple short naps in between too. :P Well, I better get some sleep! I'll definitely have to get to bed early tomorrow night for my big birthday weekend in Cancun! Yet again I can't believe week 9 is almost over...

Day 59, Week 9

What a wonderful day! Class was a little slow, but then I came home and had a good lunch. :) I worked on my essay a little bit more (it's startin to freak me out more and more) and then Allison and I went to the gym. I had a GREAT workout and am all pooped out. She is obsessed with the little icecream/popsicle shops they have here, so after we went home and cleaned up we walked what was probably around 15 minutes just to get popsicles! haha. They are good though. :) We got home finally and had dinner a little bit later. More Italian food! (ugh-I want Mexican! ha) I just hung out after dinner and then waited for the Bussian's to call me on skype. It was so awesome to see them all too. :) I think if Katy had gotten any closer to the screen we would've been touching foreheads-hehe. She was SUPER excited to see me. Our videos weren't working at first, but as soon as she heard my voice I got the very excited "NITNEY!" Man was I cracking up! She would not sit still or leave a moment in between her yells for MJ or Lauren to talk when we finally got the videos working! How cute. :) I loved it all. It was great to see you guys! Not too long and I'll be home again. Mom's coming in 5 weeks, I can't believe that, and then it's only 2 weeks after she comes that I'll be leaving Guadalajara. :( / :) Bittersweet!

Day 58, Week 9

I had a great day today. Class was good and I'm going on a field trip either tomorrow or Wednesday for my culture class. I'm not quite sure what we're doing, so I guess I'll just have to write about it when it happens. After school, Allison and I went to the gym for a great workout. uffda I was tired! Lunch was ready when we got home which was rice and beef (exactly like what you'd find in a beef stew). It was wonderful! I worked on my essay I have to write for my culture class (I chose to write about the drug trafficking) for a little while and then took a nap. Allison and I went back to the gym for round 2 and I went to my kickboxing class. The instructor wanted to take a picture with all of us that went to the class today, so we did and it was pretty funny/cool. :) We made it back home for dinner, which was rice soup, salad, and chicken marsala. I worked on my essay a little bit more and had a good chit-chat with Brian after dinner. :) I'm tired and ready for bed! (4 days til my birthday!)

Day 57, Week 9

Today was a pretty lazy day again. I slept in and then just hung around the house doing homework and listening to music. I really enjoy just laying on my bed and doing nothing sometimes! Finally after lunch, Allison and I met up with Tara and we walked to a bookstore so I could find some resources for my essay I have to write for class. I got 4 books on the drug wars, so I'm really excited to check them out. However, they are pretty difficult to read! :S After the bookstore, we walked to a restaurant where we met up with Jenny and Annina and just hung out there for the afternoon. It was a pretty chill day overall. We came home and had a good dinner (pork tostadas) and then I just finished off the night in my room talking to Brian and some other friends. I'm getting pretty anxious for my birthday weekend and my trip to Cancun this Friday!

Week 9!?

Day 56, Week 8

Yesterday was a pretty good day. I slept in late and woke up to take a shower and have breakfast and I came back to my room and turned on the tv, only to fall asleep again. I took a long much-needed nap. I think I was behind on my sleep, because I was really tired. Finally, I talked to Jenny and Tara and got our plans figured out for the day and I got up to get ready. Allison and I met Jenny at Annina's house and we just hung out there for a couple hours talking and trying to figure out what we were going to do. We wanted to go to the cattle expo thing, but realized it was getting too late and it was pretty far away. So then Tara came over to the house and a little later we walked back to Jenny and Tara's neighborhood and stop at a little shop that sells popsicles, ice cream, and the natural flavored waters. Their popsicles are sooo delicious there! We went over to the house of the two guys from school that live in the same neighborhood as the girls and hung out there watching tv for a bit. Us girls left to go to David's family's restaurant. We squished into a taxi and had a really good dinner there. I was getting so tired just sitting around after dinner though! We wanted to find some place that had karaoke, but we were shot down twice and ended up at Casa Bariachi which is a big restaurant that has live mariachi bands almost every night. I loved going there and wish I wasn't so tired to have been able to enjoy it more. I'm definitely going back there! I walked home after a while and crashed..

Day 55, Week 8

I had a really fun day today! First I went to school and had my midterm test in my first class. I think I did pretty well on it because I was confident in most of the test. My second class was a little more difficult to understand today, but I don't know why. I think I had a case of the Fridays! We saw the soccer team from the university come to our school and they told us their next game was tonight so I asked Javier how we can get some tickets and he gave us 10 free ones! After school I came home and had lunch and then walked over to Jenny and Tara's house. Tara and I walked around the park by their house and I got my eyebrows done at a salon she knows. It was fun to just hang out at their house because I had never been there. Jenny, Annina, and I walked to a hotel near the fountain to by our tickets to the Camila concert next month. During October they have Fiestas de Octubre which is like a month long fair/celebration and they have concerts and different events pretty much everyday. The tickets weren't very expensive at all, so I'm excited to go! It is an alternative/rock type band from Mexico that we've all kind of gotten into thanks to our friends here. After we got back, a bunch of us went with David and another friend Taniya to some bar that specializes in micheladas, which are what I like to say, Mexico's version of a Bloody Mary. I didn't like it so I just enjoyed the little snacks they gave us instead. It was only going to be us friends from school going to the soccer game, but then David, Taniya, Diego Luna, and the other Diego all came too. That way we didn't have to take any buses or taxis! ;) Man it's nice having friends from here with cars! It was a fun time at the game and especially when they scored a goal, everyone went nuts. They ended up tying the game and we went out for lonches (mexican-style subs) after. I got my first hamburger and of course Diego had to make fun of me by saying, "next time we will go to McDonald's for Whitney."-haha When we were finished, Diego Luna brought me back home and now I'm ready to sleep. Tomorrow we are going to go to a rodeo-type thing and maybe a karaoke bar in the night! Should be a fun day! :)

Day 54, Week 8

Man I woke up with a bad headache this morning and my jaw keeps hurting after I sleep..I was thinking it was from the lack of pillow when I'm at my friends' houses or maybe just a bad pillow on my bed, but my roommate thinks maybe it's from grinding my teeth. Whatever it is, it feels like I've been punched in my sleep! I played a review game in my first class for my midterm exam tomorrow and in my second class we took a short quiz about general things in mexican culture. They we continued the class by learned about the cowboys and their attire, mariachis, and tequila. I just love my culture professor, he's so hilarious and teaches us lots of neat things. After school I just hung out, had lunch, and took a long nap. It was very much needed! I met my friends at a Starbucks to study. It was close to La Minerva fountain where there was a big concert going on for the festivals in October so we got to listen to that too. They were even shooting off some pretty sweet fireworks, which we were the only people in the top open-air floor of the Starbucks who seemed to care-haha. My friends and I were talking about taking a road trip out to Colorado to see my friend Jenny next summer. I think that would be soo awesome! I'm going to make sure it happens! We stayed there and studied for about 3 hours and then Tara walked me halfway home because I was a little freaked out with all the people around for the concert. I had some quesadillas for dinner and now I'm stuffed. Ready for the weekend! week 8 is almost done...

Day 53, Week 8

Today was an okay day. I had class like always and then came home. I had a nice talk with Brian and then a good fish lunch. :) I have a lot of bass here...it's weird. I took a long much-needed nap after lunch and when I woke up I went to the movie "Charlie St. Cloud" with Jenny and Annina. It was such a good movie, I think I'm going to ask for it for Christmas. ;) I went to kickboxing right after the movie, which was good to let out some steam. I had a late dinner and did some homework and talked with Brian and some other friends too. I have a little quiz in my cultural class tomorrow but I'm not worried because our teacher told us it will only take about 5 minutes and I'm pretty sure he told us the questions he was going to ask in class-haha. Well I better get some sleep!
7 1/2 weeks down already...uffda!

Day 52, Week 8

Today was a very fun day! We all woke up at David's house in Chapala and went to the center again to see the market. It was really cool but a lot like the one in Guadalajara I've been to a couple times. The lake was beautiful and there were lots of people out on guided boat rides. It made me miss home to see the lake! After a couple hours we went back to the house where David's parents, grandpa, aunt, and some of his uncles were making lunch. His family is so great. They were all very nice to us and his dad was hilarious. He was joking around with us and trying to tell us he didn't know Spanish so he was talking in English and the rest of us in Spanish. It was a wonderful afternoon and early evening. I'm so glad I got that opportunity to meet those people. They made us fresh salsa and then chorizo and steak tacos on the grill. They were so delicious! I even squeezed in a four-wheeler ride in there too. :)

Tomorrow I have to go back to school-noo haha. But it's almost the weekend! I'm not sure what we're going to be doing this weekend.
