Day 46, Week 7

Things are getting better around here! I had a good day at school and came home for lunch and relaxed a little bit. Allison and I made our second attempt at finding the Walmart near by. We made it there and it looked a lot like the ones at home, beside the nasty looking people and the use of the English language. We walked around the mall that was connected for a while and she bought a cute dress for the club this weekend. We got back home and then went to the gym for our class. I thought it was going to be kickboxing like it normally is on Wednesdays, but it was a step/resistance class that I did not like last time I went so I was really bummed. I didn't get a very good workout and would have much rather done kickboxing. After class we walked back home and had dinner. I bought the postseason package for the Twins games this afternoon, so I get to watch the games here!! I'm pretty excited about that. :) I was bummed I couldn't watch the other games, but now that they're in the playoffs I just had to buy it! It's almost the weekend!! I'm really excited for the concert and the rest of the plans for this weekend. Time to get some sleep!

Day 45, Week 7

Well...today started out real slow. I just kept thinking about too many things happening. My classes passed somehow and I made it home to have lunch and take a wonderful 2 hour nap, but then was woken up by my host parents having an outrageous screaming match. :/ I couldn't tell you anything they were talking about but it didn't sound positive-ha. After I woke up, Allison and I attempted to go to Walmart. We knew the bus number we had to take, but not the direction we needed to go. So, needless to say we got another great tour of Guadalajara on a one hour bus ride in the wrong direction. :) We finally got off the bus and got some treats at a pharmacy and then got back on the bus. Two hours later, we ended up home from an unsuccessful ice cream trip. Oh well, there's always tomorrow right? What do we have to worry about! We had dinner and I've just been hanging out and did some homework. I figured out today that we don't have school next Tuesday for the celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe! So I'm going to be going to my friend's house in Chapala, which is the biggest lake in the area (or maybe Mexico?). I'm pretty excited for that! And the same friend was already asking me when I can go back to the beach! oo that'd be great! I think we're thinking about the weekend before I come back home-what a great opportunity to bring home a nice tan. ;)

Day 44, Week 7

Today I definitely had a case of the Mondays. I just didn't have a normal bubbly day. It was freezing this morning and throughout both of my classes and of course I just had a tank top and shorts on! It always a little difficult to come back to class after having missed a day to try to catch up with things that happened. But, my culture class was interesting as always and learned a bunch more. I came home after school and took a long nap because my head was hurting. I think it was a mixture of all the sun I took in this weekend and the little amount of sleep, as well as the consumption of all the salt water, but I felt a little better after and then had lunch. I did my homework and went to the gym to get a little stress out of me. Dinner was after the gym and then I finished homework and talked with Brian for a while. I'm having a difficult time now as I face the end of the honeymoon stage of my trip. I only have 2 more months until I'm home, but some things in my life happen to be a bit rocky. I would love it if you kept both Brian and I in your thoughts. :) I'm hoping for a better tomorrow (and week)--concert on the weekend!

Day 43, Week 7

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRETA and TAMI! :)

Today was pretty much just a travel day. We all slept in and then cleaned the house and took off back to Guadalajara. It was about a 3 hour trip and we got back around 6:30 tonight. I'm so exhausted and tired from all the sun and salt water-haha. I didn't get to take much of a nap in the car because the roads were so windy and a little bumpy. I like to look at all the scenery too. :) I got back tonight and had a little dinner and have been uploading all my pictures and blogs from this weekend. I had a wonderful weekend with my amazing friends! :D Back to school tomorrow...

Day 42, Week 6

Saturday, October 2

On Saturday we woke up somewhat early to head north about 1 hour to Barra de Navidad and Melaque. They are two beaches that are in the same bay, but completely different looking. We spent the early morning/afternoon at Barra de Navidad and it was so beautiful and such hot weather. The waves were not that good for our friends to go skim boarding, but we were able to swim and ride the waves there. I got pretty beat up by the waves and drank a lot of salt water. yuck! haha We bought fresh mangos on a stick but a mid-afternoon lunch and it was the juiciest piece of fruit I think I've ever eaten. It was so delicious! After a couple hours there, we had lunch and got out of the sun for a while. We walked around the center and some of the stores and then drove to the other side of the bay to Melaque. This beach was a lot bigger and the waves were way crazier and better for the guys to skim board. I needed to stay out of the water and the sun, so I took a little nap under the umbrellas. :)We were on the beach until it got dark and we actually got to the see on of the best skimboarders in Mexico at that beach. That was pretty cool to watch! After the beach, we washed off at one our the guys' beach house and went out for dinner in the center plaza. It was very much a small hick town, because everyone sat in the back of their drunks drinking beer and driving around the one block of the plaza playing their loud music! We had a fun night and I was so tired I had to go to bed shortly after we got back!

Day 41, Week 6

Friday, October 1

The crew woke up early to head to the beach. We made it there by 11 a.m. and spent the day in the ocean and in the sun. Everyone definitely got some color and burnt pretty good too. We went to the center of Manzanillo to have some lunch and to just get some shade for a while. It was so beautiful to be right on the ocean and see the different culture there. I found a Harley Davidson poncho in this one shop, but I figured that dad wouldn't be too interested in that. It might get a little hot riding in a poncho. :P After lunch, we went back to the beach. There was a constant stream of people walking past selling jewelry and all sorts of goods. I did buy a necklace, but the rest of them got annoying after a while. Once we had enough sun, we went back to the house and got ready to have some of "the best tacos in Manzanillo." They were very big tacos filled with about any kind of meat and cheese. I chose steak and it was wonderful. The sun really made everyone tired so we didn't do much partying on Friday night.

Day 40, Week 6

Thursday, September 30

On Thursday I got through my classes as quickly as possible because I was so excited to leave for the beach. I learned some pretty interesting stuff about the Aztec calendar in my culture class. After school we came home to pack up our stuff and our friends picked Allison and I up around 1:30 and we got our trip rollin. We stopped after about an hour in Colima and had some tacos for lunch. We got to Manzanillo about 2 hours later and drove around to find our friend's house that we were staying at. We got there and it was so hot inside we could barely stay inside. The power was not working either so we got back in the car and drove to the main office to ask about it. After we got that working, we all got ready to head to the beach. This was around 6:00 and we stayed at the beach until it was really dark and came home. Everyone got ready and we went out for dinner. We came home and had a little fiesta and went to sleep really late. My roommate Allison woke us up at 6 a.m. with a little sleep dancing and made Tara and I almost pee our pants laughing!
